Best Ballerina Summer – 2018
This newly designed five-week program offers Monmouth County area students a compelling opportunity to continue their summer ballet training close to home. All dancers in the area are invited to enroll regardless of current dance school affiliation.
Classes will be conducted by Monmouth Academy of Ballet’s Artistic Director, Miss Ellen, who is well known in the area for her world class program of ballet instruction.
Classes are for students ages 6-17 and will be held from July 16 through August 16, 2018. Each week will be a new experience focusing on a distinctly different aspect of ballet. Multi-age classes will encourage dancers to learn from one another and will offer each dancer the opportunity to be a role model. Tutu Tuesdays will allow dancers a playful opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and personality. Bring your own tutu or we will provide you with one!
Class attire for girls will be hair in a ballet bun, black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Students may bring a water bottle into class. Class attire for boys will be white t-shirt, black tights and black slippers.
Ballet Mystique – Week 1
Wondering what our Spring Ballet Performance for 2019 will be? Come dance with us and help get a jump start on our story, music and choreography!
Charismatic Character – Week 2
Character dance is an integral part of classical ballet training. All classical ballet productions feature some aspect of character dance, as they help set the tone and story of the ballet.
This week we will learn the character dance steps from such ballets as Coppelia, Romeo & Juliet, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. We will put together dances with the new steps we learn to present to parents at the end of the week.
Amazing Arabesque – Week 3
Every ballerina dreams of an absolutely stunning arabesque line! During this week we will master exercises to help strengthen the ballet body to obtain each dancer’s optimal arabesque line and will learn how to apply it during turns, adage and allegro.
Terrific Turns – Week 4
Fouette, pirouette, piqué, chaîné and soutenu are all important aspects of a ballet performance for both female and male dancers. This week we will fine tune our awareness of these dynamic and exciting elements that ballet dancers employ to master their Terrific Turns!
RAD Readiness – Week 5
Get a leg up on preparation for Royal Academy of Dance examinations so you can perform at your personal best, earning the highest marks you are capable of achieving. This class will help students who have not participated in RAD exams decide if the RAD experience is for them. Remember, RAD coaching starts this fall!
